Trend alert: Velvet

Ok, this trend isn't one of my personal favourites, but it's definitely something different and groundbraking. Furthermore, it's seen everywhere, from the catwalk to our highstreet stores! But forget about the chunky, over-the-top eighties designs, and go for glossy colours, pretty burn-out effects and more simplistic pieces. So think: sleek cocktail dresses and glamorous clutches. Read on for some great velvet pieces and catwalk inspiration...

Nice and Easy: Monday's Wish List

Because it's Monday, I wanted to break in the week nice and easy, seeing that all you readers who are back at work/school probably don't want to read anything which costs too much energy. That is why I picked a few of my favourite items that are definitely on my autumn and winter wish list. Enjoy!

All Important Basics: The Blazer

Before you start wearing your thick and heavy coats again, blazers are the perfect item for early autumn days. It is one of the most essential pieces you have to have in your wardrobe. If you want to dress up or dress down, you can combine it whatever way you want. Seen being worn from the office to the pub, from cropped pieces to the oversized boyfriend blazer, you just cannot go wrong with this all important basic. Top-tip: update old blazers with shoulder pads or military buttons to give them a little more 'edge'.

Chunky Bracelets? Yes Please!

Up and till now I have been discussing this autumn's hottest fashion trends. But what about the accessories (let's be honest: they can make or break your outfit)? Well, jewelry wise, the saying definitely goes 'the bigger the better'. Bold, chunky bracelets will be the accessory you have to have this autumn and winter! Go for studded, embellished, animal print or leather bracelets- whatever takes your fancy. I have picked a few of my own favourites:

How to wear...Leather shorts

Shorts and blouse: Topshop
Wedges: Dorothy Perkins
Fedora hat: ASOS

Leather shorts are one of the biggest trends for this autumn and winter! I cannot wait to get myself some; they're refreshing, they're daring, and can be worn throughout the whole of the winter. But, to avoid it looking too rough and masculine, make sure you mix it up with some feminine items. So think: frilly blouses and soft colours! Will you be getting yourself a pair?

Trend alert: Leopard print

Year after year, leopard print keeps returning in the autumn and winter collections of all the high street stores. It is definitely a personal favourite of mine, as long as you use it subtly. So dressing up head-to-toe in leopard print is a big no-no. The great thing is that you do not have to go for obvious leopard print pieces like coats and leggings, you can start with the more subtle items like a skinny belt and hair clips. Here are a few of my personal picks...

Leopard print items:
  • Coat, Topshop, £85
  • Body, Topshop, £25
  • Skinny Belt, Miss Selfridge, £8
  • Ballet pumps, ASOS, £30
