If I were a boy...

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only girl who has used this phrase multiple times: 'Oh if I were a boy, I'd know exactly what to wear!'. And to be honest, even though it can still be tough choosing the right thing to wear as a boy, it is nothing compared to what girls have to choose from! Let's face it; boys normally go 'jeans or shorts?', whereas we go: 'skirts or dresses? shorts or jeans? playsuits or jumpsuits?' (you get the gist..). Anyway, I went on a little browse to see what kind of clothes are very popular right now within our male population (2 words: checked shirts). Also, I managed to make my own list of essentials. I hope you like it!

1. The T-shirt

Simple to combine with, but still with a special print (which isn't cheesy! I hate it when guys wear T-shirts with so-called 'funny' slogans on them). This one is from the H&M Festival Collection, and I absolutely love it!

2. The Cardigan

Again, simple, but still quite special because it is double-breasted (I love the buttons!). Also, the hoodie adds something extra to it. This cardigan is from Topman, £34, and available on this website: http://www.topman.com

3. The Shorts

What I really like about these shorts is that they're not too short (in case you're wondering; 'they are called shorts for a reason', then let me tell you this: trust me, despite the name, too short is just not sexy). The colour is also quite stylish, and the material isn't as predictable as the overly-used denim. It gives a sort of classiness to the item (£30, Topman).

3. The Shirt

Because checked shirts are seen everywhere these days, I decided to go with this denim shirt. I like how the sleeves aren't too long (which is great during the summer), and the bleach marks make it look like it is worn out (which is definitely a plus, a shirt that looks too 'squeeky clean' doesn't work for me).

4. The Jeans

With jeans, I find the rules quite simple. Straight leg (definitely not skinny jeans, unless you're very very indie), not overly bleached, and preferably a dark colour. And there it is; these Levi's-jeans. They are quite expensive (£75), but seeing that they have got almost every model and the quality is pretty amazing, you just cannot go wrong with them. This model is available on this website: http://eu.levi.com/en_GB/shop/products/men?subcategory=bottoms_jeans_pants

5. The Trainers

Besides Converse, I love Fred Perry's on a man for an extra casual look. But definitely black or grey ones, and not white! And for £35, I think it isn't that expensive at all!

5. The Accessories

Just to finish it off...A snood and Ray-Bans!

  1. i have to agree that checked shirts are over used these days...in fact i am wearing one now...and the majority of my shirts are checked. but then again, if you're wearing plain blue trousers (i.e. jeans) then wearing a plain shirt also looks boring i guess?

this is another reason i should do a 'what would alex wear?' article on my blog... :)
